Step by step

Cook spaghetti in plenty of salted water al dente.

Slice garlic thinly.

Gently heat olive oil with garlic and chili in a pan.

Let garlic turn golden, do not brown.

Drain spaghetti, reserving some pasta water.

Toss pasta in the pan with garlic oil and a bit of pasta water.
