  • Curry paste 1 tbsp MassamanOr: Curry paste red
    as needed
  • Peanuts 25 g roasted
    as needed
  • Potatoes waxy

  • Onions

  • Tamarind pasteOr: Lime juice
    ½ tbsp
  • Fish sauce
    ¾ tbsp
  • Palm sugarOr: Brown sugar
    ½ tbsp
  • Cinnamon stick

  • Star anise
    1 Stk
  • Bay leaves
    1 Stk
  • Sunflower oil
    ¾ tbsp
  • Iodized salt
    ¼ tsp
Method

Step by step

    Cube beef into 4 cm pieces.

    Heat oil in a pot, fry curry paste 3 minutes.

    Add half of coconut milk and reduce until oil rises to surface.

    Add meat and brown all around.

  5. 5

    Add remaining coconut milk, tamarind paste, fish sauce, palm sugar, cinnamon, star anise and bay.

    Braise 90 minutes over low heat.

    Cube potatoes and onions.

  8. 8

    Add with peanuts 30 minutes before end.

  9. 9

    Continue simmering until meat is tender and potatoes are cooked.

    Remove aromatics, serve with rice.
