Step by step

Slice white cabbage into strips and blanch in salt water for 10 minutes.

Roughly cut sauerkraut and mix with white cabbage.

Render bacon cubes in a large pot.

Add onions and garlic and sauté until translucent.

Cube pork and beef and brown along with bacon.

Add tomato paste, bay leaves, juniper, pepper and paprika.

Deglaze with red wine, add sauerkraut-cabbage mixture.

Stir in sliced kielbasa and prunes.

Simmer covered over low heat for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.

If possible, reheat the next day — tastes better.
