Step by step

Reduce sugar with water, cardamom and saffron in a pot to syrup, simmer 5 minutes, perfume with rose water.

Mix milk powder, flour and baking powder.

Gradually incorporate melted butter and milk into smooth dough.

Let dough rest 10 minutes.

Form small smooth balls from dough, must not have cracks.

Heat oil to 140°C, low.

Slowly fry balls golden brown (5-7 minutes), turning constantly.

Place immediately hot into the lukewarm syrup.

Soak at least 30 minutes.

Serve sprinkled with chopped pistachios.
