  • Potatoes waxy
    ¼ kg
  • Whipping cream
    90 ml
  • Milk
    40 ml
  • Garlic cloves
    1 Stk
  • Gruyère 25 g gratedOr: Emmentaler
    as needed
  • Thyme
    ¼ tsp
  • Nutmeg
    1 pinch
  • Iodized salt
    ¼ tsp
  • Pepper
    ¼ tsp
Method

Step by step

    Preheat oven to 180°C.

    Grease baking dish with butter and rub insides with halved garlic clove.

    Peel potatoes and slice into 3 mm thin slices.

    Heat cream and milk in a pot.

    Press remaining garlic and add to milk.

    Season with salt, pepper, nutmeg and thyme.

    Layer potatoes in the dish.

    Pour cream-milk mixture over.

    Sprinkle with grated cheese.

    Bake 60 minutes until golden brown, potatoes soft and surface crispy brown.
