Step by step

Trim red cabbage, halve and cut or shave into fine strips.

Peel and dice apples, chop onion.

Melt butter in a pot, sauté onion.

Add red cabbage, apple, red wine, apple vinegar and sugar.

Season with bay leaf, cloves, salt and pepper.

Braise over low heat for 45 min, stir occasionally.
