Step by step

Preheat oven to 220°C.

Mix flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.

Cube cold butter and rub into the flour mix until crumbly.

Add buttermilk and just bring together into a dough.

Roll out dough 2 cm thick, cut out circles and bake on a tray 12–15 minutes until golden.

Brown sausage meat crumbly in a pan.

Dust with flour (2 tbsp from the sausage fat or added), toast briefly.

Gradually stir in milk and cook to a creamy sauce, season with salt and pepper.

Slice biscuits open and generously pour sausage gravy over, sprinkle with chives.
