- HoneyOr: Maple syrup8 ml
- Lime juiceOr: Lemon juice¼ tbsp
- Vanilla extractOr: Vanilla sugar¼ tsp
Step by step

Preheat oven to 175°C, butter the pan.

Finely chop walnuts and mix with 2 tbsp sugar and cinnamon.

Melt butter.

Place a sheet of filo in the pan, brush with butter, layer 7 more sheets brushing each with butter.

Spread half the nut mixture over.

Layer 4 more filo sheets with butter between, distribute remaining nuts.

Cover with 8 more filo sheets, brushing each with butter.

Pre-cut into diamonds with a sharp knife and bake 30–35 minutes until golden.

Meanwhile simmer remaining sugar with water, honey and lemon juice for 10 minutes into syrup.

Pour hot syrup over the warm baklava and let cool completely.
