Step by step

Dissolve yeast with water and sugar, let stand 5 minutes.

Knead flour, salt and oil with yeast mixture into a smooth dough.

Let dough rise covered for 1 hour.

Divide into 8 pieces, form balls, press a hole in the middle and shape carefully into bagels.

Let rise on parchment paper another 20 minutes.

Preheat oven to 220°C, bring a pot of water with honey to a boil.

Poach bagels individually 1 minute per side, drain.

Brush with egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame.

Bake 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
