  • CornmealOr: Corn semolina
    100 g
  • Water
    130 ml
  • Iodized salt
    ¼ tsp
  • Chicken breastOr: Turkey breast
    100 g
  • Avocado
    1 Stk
  • MayonnaiseOr: Crème fraîche
    ¾ tbsp
  • Lime juice
    ½ tbsp
  • OnionsOr: Shallots
    1 Stk
  • CilantroOr: Parsley
    1 bunch
  • Sunflower oilOr: Rapeseed oil

Method

Step by step

    Cook chicken breast in salt water for about 15 minutes, let cool and shred.

    Knead cornmeal with salt and water into a smooth dough, rest for 5 minutes.

    Form 8 balls from the dough and flatten into discs about 1.5 cm thick.

    Heat oil in a pan, fry arepas 4–5 minutes per side until golden.

    Add avocado, mayonnaise, lime juice, chopped onion and cilantro to shredded chicken and mix.

    Season with salt and pepper.

    Cut arepas open on the side, fill with chicken-avocado mixture and serve.
