  • Pork bellyOr: Chicken breast, Pork neck
    200 g
  • Soy sauce
    30 ml
  • VinegarOr: Apple vinegar, Rice vinegar
    30 ml
  • Garlic cloves
    2 Stk
  • Bay leaves
    1 Stk
  • Pepper
    ¼ tsp
  • Water
    50 ml
  • SugarOr: Honey, Brown sugar
    ¼ tsp
  • Sunflower oilOr: Rapeseed oil, Vegetable oil

Method

Step by step

    Cut pork belly into bite-sized cubes.

    Marinate the meat in soy sauce, vinegar, chopped garlic, bay leaves and pepper for 30 minutes.

    Heat oil in a pot and sear the meat without the marinade.

  4. 4

    Add marinade and water, bring to a boil.

  5. 5

    Reduce heat and simmer covered for 45 minutes.

  6. 6

    Remove lid and reduce for another 10–15 minutes until the sauce thickens.

  7. 7

    Season with sugar and let caramelize briefly.

  8. 8

    Serve with rice.
